The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, has launched the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) web portal. Which is known as NYPS 2.0. NYPS 2.0 is open to all citizens across the country, irrespective of their economic status, gender, caste, creed, religion, race, region, and location. All educational institutions can participate in the NYPS 2.0 web portal by organizing youth parliament meetings. This portal includes tutorials, literature, training videos, etc., for e-training and self-learning of participants. The Ministry has called for increasing participation on the web portal. This will increase the impact of the programs and achieve the objective of strengthening the roots of democracy, developing healthy habits of discipline, and tolerating the views of others.

About National Youth Parliament Scheme 2025

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has developed a web portal to promote the Youth Parliament Programme. The portal includes tutorials, literature, training videos, etc., for e-training and self-learning of the participants. The NYPS web portal was originally launched by former President Ram Nath Kovind on November 26, 2019, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. It gave students an opportunity to connect with the democratic values ​​of the country. Citizens can participate under this portal in the following ways.

  1. Institution Participation: All educational institutions can participate in this category by organizing Youth Parliament meetings as per the guidelines available on the portal. Students from classes VI to XII can be selected for the “Kishore Sabha” sub-category, and students of undergraduate and postgraduate levels can be selected for the “Tarun Sabha” sub-category.
  2. Group Participation: A group of citizens can participate in this category by organizing Youth Parliament meetings as per the guidelines available on the portal.
  3. Individual Participation: Individual citizens can participate by attempting a quiz on the theme of Indian Democracy.

Objective of the National Youth Parliament Scheme

The objective of the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) is to educate the youth about democracy and the functioning of Parliament and provide information about the functioning and procedures of Parliament. So that they can actively participate in the democratic processes of the country. Under this scheme, leadership skills will be developed in the students, and awareness will be created about the problems facing the country. Students will be able to understand and clearly express the point of view of the common man.
